DAILY TRANSFORMATIONAL NUGGETS FOR THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT: 31 Days of Setting Intentions – Day 25 “The Practice of Love”

Today’s Body Connection:  Yoga is the practice of Love.  We do the physical practice to know self-love and to feel the vibration of Joy that lives within our soul.  The word “yoga” means to yoke or to bring together two things that appear to be separate. Today, use the physical to yoke to the spiritual.  Set the intention to elevate your love and joy vibrations.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Love is the highest state of consciousness and it is the awareness of God in action.  Being in a state of love is releasing the human condition of lack, limitation, disappointment, fear, and worry, which block the flow of Love.  When we set the intention to practice Love, we free ourselves from the human condition.  Love is connecting with the light within you and with someone else.  The sorrow of the human condition would have us believe that love is not possible.  That is a lie of the ego.

 

One of the intentions I speak about in yoga is opening up the heart and allowing yourself to love again.  We must set the intention to practice Love.  If there is a religion that I subscribe to, it is the religion of Love and Kindness.  Remember, what you send out is what you get back.

 

 

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to practice Love.  When you find yourself operating from a place of fear, shift your thinking right away.   Give yourself permission to love yourself.  Allow your heart chakra to be open and filled with love. Forgive yourself for the fear that consumed your thinking and begin again.

 

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I am the love energy that blesses the planet.  I move from a place of love and my life is good.  And so it is.

DAILY TRANSFORMATIONAL NUGGETS FOR THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT: 31 Days of Setting Intentions – Day 24 “The Practice of Activating Joy”

Today’s Body Connection:  “Joy rising” during your workouts is literally the practice of finding moments of bliss.  If we set the intention before our workout to feel Joy, it will rise; just be open to it.

Today’s Meditative Thought: I love Oprah’s term, “Joy Raising.”  She explains it as the feeling of the activation of joy within.  I believe we need to practice activating Joy every day.  When we realize that joy is an internal presence that lives within ourselves and that nothing outside of our being can bring us joy, we become free to do what activates “Joy Raising.”

Everyday we must set the intention to activate Joy.  It is our connection with Spirit that will allow us to identify what it is that activates Joy.  Be open and willing to contemplate Joy and what it really means to be joyful.  Through prayer and meditation, God will reveal to you what true Joy is, and once you know it, go after it!

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, practice the activation of Joy.  Meditate on the joy that lives within you.  It is time to play and have fun in the ocean of devotion.  Joy is within you; do not look for something outside to activate it.  Ask the question, “God, can you show me the joy that is my Life?”

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I activate the Joy that is my life.  Amen.

DAILY TRANSFORMATIONAL NUGGETS FOR THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT: 31 Days of Setting Intentions – Day 23 “The Practice of Fellowship”

Today’s Body Connection:  Group fitness is the practice of Fellowship.  There is nothing like the activity of a group fitness session.  Every time like-minded people come together with the some goal in mind, the vibration of each individual is heightened and the planet shifts.  A group session is the greatest way to connect with a collective, and the support is out of this world; it’s beyond the physical and it is a connection that is pure Chi, or Prana, energy.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Fellowship is the one practice that keeps us connected to one another.  It is too easy for us to isolate ourselves and not actively embrace the nature of unity; we do it all the time.  When someone whom we do not wish to talk to calls, we just don’t answer the phone.  Or when we are asked to hang out with a friend, sometimes it feels easier to just stay at home.  When it is time for our daily or weekly spiritual gathering, our human incarnation, the ego, seeks to protect us be telling us that “we are too tired,” “we need to sleep in,” or “it won’t be any good anyway.”  But every time we get to the place we were fighting with ourselves about avoiding, we always feel better.  This year set the intention to view your gathering as a spiritual practice for growth. Fellowship is divine nature.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to increase your fellowship time.  Connect with your spiritual posse.  For 30 days, say yes to gatherings with friends, family, and loved ones.

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, my fellowship is a deep expression of God.  And so it is.  Amen.

Today’s Body Connection:  Have you ever tried praying during your workouts?  The power of prayer is empowerment; you feel as if you are connected to something greater than the workout, and you are!  The energy of the universe is what fuels your training sessions, so consciously connect with the power the moves you and keep you strong.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Prayer is the practice of aligning our minds and consciousness with the oneness and the unity of God.  Affirmative prayer is what we use to remind us of a connection to a source greater than our human incarnation.  We need the power that prayer gives us.  These words of empowerment keep us awakened to our divinity.

When we set the intention to increase our prayer practice, our life is open to new and amazing possibilities.  Contrary to popular belief, prayer is not for God; our prayer life is only for the edification of our souls.  Prayer helps us to keep our thoughts and our consciousness open and focused.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to increase your prayer practice.  Whatever it takes, say a prayer everyday to regain your life.

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I stand as a prayer warrior.  My life is the life of God; therefore I am the prayer of life.  Amen.

Today’s Body Connection:  We work out so that we may continue to do the work of the universe.  There is a reason for the practice: not to get anything but to give everything.  When we choose a life of wholeness, we become a vessel for service.  As we become healthy, our body cannot stop us for the work we have said yes to.  When we truly wake up, we become aware that we were not created to get anything, but rather that our mission is to give and celebrate our gift by being of service to others.  Your physical practice has a deeper meaning than just exercise.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Service is a spiritual practice that anchors our oneness with each other. This practice of serving our fellows starts from the beginning of time.  The word “service” means the act of helpful activity.  Our divine calling is to be of service to the Universe.  When setting the intention to live a spiritual life, service becomes a holy practice.

When we step into service, we activate the energy of love, compassion, joy, and gratitude.  When we choose to serve others, we are really serving ourselves.  There is only the one power of God, and we are that power in the flesh.  Everything we do affects the whole.  We must set the intention to be of service.  This not only helps us, it sets into motion the healing of the planet.

 

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to be in service and know the truth.  What you do for others, you do for yourself.

 

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I am a magnet for service, and I bless the planet with love.  Amen.

DAILY TRANSFORMATIONAL NUGGETS FOR THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT: 31 Days of Setting Intentions – Day 20 “The Practice of Sacred Study”

Today’s Body Connection:  Do you truly know yourself? Do you know what is the right physical practice for you? Do you know how and what your body needs to feel better?  We must study the body-temple to know what it is we need.  Your higher self will tell you exactly what physical practice you need.  It takes time and self-exploration to know yourself.  Take the time to be with you.  You are sacred and divine and you know everything you need to know about you.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Everything that we need to know is within our spirit.  Our eternal high self is one with Divine Knowledge.  The practice of sacred study is to activate that intelligence that lives within our being.  Setting the intention to grow and to expand our consciousness must be followed by the intention to take action through sacred study.

Every time I have an “Ah-Ha” moment, it is anchored by the feeling that I have known that “spiritual nugget” all my life.  Whenever I contemplate something that I have read, there is always a deepening of my consciousness, a quickening of my soul.  We set the intention to go deep; it is the study that allows the journey.  When I hear an inspirational speaker, what resonates with me are the topics that I have already studied.  The intention is the key that unlocks the door, but it is the study that helps you to see there are no doors to unlock in the first place.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to up-level your consciousness with sacred study.  Join a class, a study group, or a book study and allow a fellowship of like-minded people take you on a journey of enlightenment.

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I embrace the journey of transformation.  I activate the divine knowledge that lives within my soul.  And so it is.  Amen.

Today’s Body Connection:  The more you give, the more you get.  Set the intention to give more energy, and watch your vitality double.  You get out of your session what you put into it.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Today is the day that we set the intention to give more money, time, and our divine qualities that we bring forth.  There is power in the act of giving and sharing, activating the law of circulation.  What you give away freely, you freely receive.   It is so important to remember that we are not here to get anything; we are here to give and share the presence of God that lives within us.  The practice of giving is connected to our ability to see our gifts as divine, belonging to the Universe.   There is nothing we truly own.   All that we have is God’s, and we are only the tools for sharing.  When we realize that we have been chosen to be spiritual tools destined to share God, we become free to give.  We must release the fear of not having enough and know that everything we have comes from an abundant source of supply that can never run out.  Understand that all of your money, all of your time, and all of the divine qualities you bring forth are because of your connection with God.  When it is time to give, remember you are only exchanging energy that belongs to Spirit.  You are free to give it away, and there is always enough.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to give more.   Be an open vessel for God’s gift to flow freely through you, for you, as you.  Begin a practice of prayer and meditation anchoring the truth that there is enough to share and spare.

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I am the gift of God, and I freely release blessings upon the planet.  I am the anchoring of heaven on earth, a divine being pouring out the gifts of the Universe everywhere I go.  Amen.

Today’s Body Connection:  During your workout only use language that affirms the positive.

Today’s Meditative Thought: The power of the “spoken word” is deep and transformative.  The bible verse that begins “John” is, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.”  This declaration helps us to set the intention to be mindful of what we say.  The words that we speak are the words of the divine.  We are the mouthpieces of God, and we have a responsibility to speak words that will inspire, to use language that carries a vibration that will uplift all that hear it.

 

It is not only what is spoken that matters; it is also what is heard that has an equal effect.  Affirmations are a practice that helps to align your thinking and your emotions.  When an affirmative word of truth is spoken consistently, there is a shift in our consciousness.   When the truth is spoken and we truly hear what is being said, we are open to a shift within our DNA.  We change on a cellular level.  We not only have a shift of consciousness, but our subconscious is open for a shift.  A repetition of the practice of speaking affirmations, hearing them, and contemplating the truth will lead to your expansion and growth.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, begin your practice of daily mantras and affirmations that will remind you of who and what you are.

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, my life is a living expression of the Holy Spirit, and I live these words of truth with gusto.  Amen.

DAILY TRANSFORMATIONAL NUGGETS FOR THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT: 31 Days of Setting Intentions – Day 17 “The Meditation Practice”

Today’s Body Connection:  Fitness can be the act of meditation.  When we are mindful of how the body-temple moves, we are in the practice of meditation.  The practice of body awareness starts with a mental connection to how the body feels in the present moment.  We must not judge the body; just stay aware and witness what is happening during your workout.  We must not call it good or bad; the body is neutral, having an experience.  Stay awake to any energy you might experience during your walk or run.  Be aware of any internal messages your body is telling you during your fitness session.  If you are open and willing to hear, you will know everything you need to know to empower and transform your life.  It begins with mindfulness; it begins with meditation.

Today’s Meditative Thought: The word “meditation” means mindful listening or awareness.  Meditation is the time we set aside during the day to go within and hear the voice of God.  The only way we can truly experience the Universal presence is through meditation.  It is in the stillness that we shall know the Universal Flow.

My favorite movie is “The Color Purple.”  At the end of the film, the song Shug and a glorious choir sings is “Maybe God Is Trying to Tell You Something.”  The chorus repeats, “Maybe God is trying to tell you something.”  Whenever I hear it I am reminded that God is always speaking to us, but we are not always listening.

When we are quiet and still, that is the time we commune with Spirit; that is the only time we are available to truly hear what needs to be heard.  We must set the intention to be still every day.  It is the consistency of an everyday practice that helps us to build our spiritual consciousness along with our dedication to see God unfold.  When we are present and listening — it may be during a conversation, during fellowship, or when we are alone — our life opens up to a deeper dimension.  Be present, be awake, hear the message of the heart, and it will transform your life.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to meditate.  For the next 30 days, set an appointment with God.  Find the time to be still.  It could be five minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour; it does not matter.  Just do it.  Take the time to sit and listen.  Don’t think, don’t create a shopping list, and don’t worry about where you need to be next.  Just listen.  Listen to your breathing, listen to your heartbeat, and listen to nature.  Be present and be aware during the time you have allotted for the stillness.  This is a sacred time, a precious moment in eternity.  The practice of meditation will change your life.

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I am the emanation of God, blessed and filled with love.  My meditation practice fuels my life and I am everything I desire to be.  And so is it.  And so it is.  Amen.

DAILY TRANSFORMATIONAL NUGGETS FOR THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT: 31 Days of Setting Intentions – Day 16 “Knowing More of the Light”

Today’s Body Connection:  The light is always shining within our soul but it’s not always evident to others or to us.  The physical activity of fitness ignites the lamp, allowing us to radiate illumination.

Today’s Meditative Thought: Today is the day we set the intention to know more of the light of God.  As I have discussed before, intention setting is the process of being more, to grow more.  The word “intention” means to be more, to stretch.  There are two questions I ask my students during yoga instruction: “Where have you not gone today regarding your mind, body, or spirit?” and “How can you stretch yourself during this pose?”  Like in yoga, we must ask the questions that will allow us to expand and do the inquiry of self that will initiate a deeper shift in consciousness.  When we desire to know more of the Light, we are asking to have a greater experience in God.

Today’s Action Plan:  Today, ask the question that will allow you to experience more God.  Ask the Universe to make itself evident in your life.  Each time you are challenged, simply say, “Show me more light.”

Today’s Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I reveal the presence of God and the Universe guides every step I take.  And so it is.  Amen.
