This Week’s Meditative Thought–Moments of Divine Love

Spirit Island on Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park-Spirit Island , Alberta, CanadaYou’ve heard the adage, to be a winner you must put your mind in a winners perspective. In the same vein, every moment of our lives is devine if we open our minds into seeing them as so.

Recognize and Grasp Divine Love

There are times that the Universe appears to us with extraordinary clarity of Divine Love. Recognize and grasp these moments and savory them deliciously. It is important that we take the time to recognize those gems moments when our hearts, minds and eyes are wide open and our hearts are ready to receive, God will always make itself known.

This Week’s Spiritual Assignment

This week I challenge you to take time and journal about ‘Divine Moments’ that have altered your life. Write about the experiences and how they changed you forever. Take your time and be still, meditate, and allow the memories to come to you.

This Week’s Meditative Thought – The Practice of Love

Screenshot 2015-02-02 12.04.57Love is the highest state of consciousness and it is the awareness of God in action.  Being in a state of love is releasing the human condition of : lack, limitation, disappointment, fear, and worry, which block the flow of Love.  This week we’ll aim for The practice of Love, to help free ourselves from the human condition.  Love is connecting with the light within you and with someone else.  The sorrow of the human condition would have us believe that love is not possible.  That is a lie of the ego.

One of the intentions I speak about in yoga is opening up the heart and allowing yourself to love again.  We must set the intention to practice Love.  If there is a religion that I subscribe to, it is the religion of Love and Kindness.

Remember, what you send out is what you get back.

This Week’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to The Practice of Love.  When you find yourself operating from a place of fear, shift your thinking right away.   Give yourself permission to love yourself.  Allow your heart chakra to be open and filled with love. Forgive yourself for the fear that consumed your thinking and begin again.

Friday Body Connection and Affirmation – Remember to Remember

Woman swimming in a poolWhen deciding on a workout or routine, choose workouts that help focus your body connection intentions. If you set the goal to be the best you can be, choose a practice that anchors the intention. The physical should always be in alignment with the mental and spiritual goals. Set the intention to always remember your truth.

Friday Affirmation:  Friday’s are a great day for me as I take a moment to reflect and affirm.

Just for this moment…just for this breath, the qualities of God is my life.  I “remember to remember” my purpose.

The Lotus Kitchen-Cucumber Mint Salad

You will absolutely love the Lotus Kitchen – Cucumber Mint Salad. It’s so refreshing in so many ways, from a main dish on a warm day, to a light palette refresher.  This recipe and more is from my collection of vegan recipes from my upcoming book, the Lotus Kitchen with co-author Gwen Keannelly that combines good vegan eats with a yoga practice.

Enjoy,

-Skip

Ingredients:

4 cups chopped cucumber (3 medium sized cucumbers)
2 cups fresh mint leaves, de-stemmed
1 cup fresh cilantro, de-stemmed
1 cup lime juice
1/3 cup grape seed oil
1 cup fresh yellow cherry tomatoes
Raw macadamia nuts, chopped
Fresh basil

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and serve. Serves 4

The Practice: The cucumber is the most perfect food for hydration, nutrients and releasing weight. The practice of yoga also helps release weight and unwanted heavy energy. One of the effects of yoga is building heat within, and allowing the body to sweat out everything we do not need. To balance the body, take the time to hydrate with water and cucumbers.

Mindful Eating Practice: This practice is to be aware that the salad is hydrating, nurturing, and creating a healthy body. With each bite be aware of the water of the cucumber that is hydrating the body. Be mindful of each quenching morsel that is blessing your mouth. Feel the energy that the salad is stimulating within the body. The vibration that is delivered from the food is helping to elevate the vibration of the soul. During the ritual create an affirmation that helps remind you that eating is a practice. For example, “I know my mind, body, and spirit are strong as I eat my cucumber salad.”

This Week’s Meditative Thought – Joy

joyThis entire week let’s meditate on setting the intention to do what brings us joy. When we connect with God within, we connect with the divine qualities of the Holy Spirit. Joy is the highest form of energetic vibrations. One spiritual practice is to always find the joy within our lives.  All of our master teachers encourage us to be in the joy always. No matter what you are going through, find your joy. Delight in the realization that you are an unique expression of the Universe. Rejoice and allow your light to shine.  When we understand who and what we are, it becomes easy to find our Joy.  No matter what, we are always in God; therefore we can always activate Joy.  Set the intention to remember you are joy, and it is waiting to rise up.

This week’s “Joy” action plan let’s focus all this week on doing what brings you joy.  Take time to meditate and to identify what brings you divine happiness, then go and do it!

This Week’s Meditative Thought – Creating Open Spaces

Huaraz, Peru

Last week we tackled setting intentions. This week let’s build upon this theme by opening our consciousness and creating a space to grow.  To begin we must be willing to release our old ideas so that we may have new experiences on our spiritual walk.  Our intentions set into motion the clearing away of old paradigms that no longer serve us.  It is the open space that gives us breathing room so that new and powerful transformative work can take place.  When we set the intention to be more, there must be a willingness to ask the question, “What must I release? What must I become?”  The intention to transform is the intention to become more.

This week’s Action Plan: Today, set aside everything you think you know about your journey so that you are open and free to have a new and fresh experience in God.  Use the “set aside prayer”;

“May I set aside everything I think I know about ____ (fill in the blank) so that I may have a new experience.”  Be willing to release everything that no longer serves you.  Create a space for transformation.

Blessings,

This Week’s Meditative Thought – Setting Intentions

© M B / Attribution-ShareAlikeNamed after Janus, the Roman god who is associated with doorways, beginnings, and transitions, January is the perfect and natural time for setting intentions; to be more, to stretch, and to grow. To start, it is important that you be willing to expand your mind, body, and spirit. This week, today, at this moment begin remembering that each day is a new day, each moment is a new moment, each breath is a new breath. Use this new day to grow and be more than you ever thought you could be.

This Week’s Action Plan: Walk through the doorway of intentions and start again. Create your own restart button and realize that you part of power eternity that God has set you on.  Take time to meditate on the newness of each breath, moment, and day.  All this week, take that step and look toward setting intentions and seek the freshness of God, and refresh your life.

Happy Holidays Message

This time of the year is one of my favorites as it encompasses the sacred holidays of light; “Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa”. It’s during these holidays that I encourage you to reflect your inner light to illuminate a world that appears to be shrouded in darkness. With the news seeming filled with dark events let’s embrace with an open heart the elements of the Devine Light of the universes such as: joy, compassion, power, abundance, grace, and prosperity.

This Divine Light lives within all of us and is an illuminating presence that is felt deep within an open heart. This Light was here at the beginning of all time and is with us throughout our lives. Let us tap this Light and share the Love, Joy, Compassion, Oneness, Abundance, and Grace in every situation in our lives. When we surrender to its existence, we will have a purpose, a calling, and our existence can have meaning. During this time remember the reason for the season. Go out and shine your Light.

Wishing you and all your love ones a very festive and happy holidays.

Blessings,

 – Skip
