Strength Training Using Weights

Strength Training and muscular strength are just one component of physical fitness. Strong muscles are essential for supporting the skeleton and enables ease of body movement, good posture, decreases risk of injury, and overall performance of everyday activities.

Strength training is beneficial if your muscles are weak. It can help make you stronger and improve your balance and flexibility. Strength exercises work your muscles by using resistance like dumb bells, resistance bands, weight machines or your own body weight. This type of exercise increases lean muscle mass, which is vital for weight loss or weight maintenance because muscle burns more calories that other types of tissues.

Most physical activity guidelines recommend doing strength training exercises at least two to three days per week. The major muscle groups in the body that requires training include the legs, hips, back, chest, abdomen, shoulder and arms. Start with a low weight, you may even use your own body for resistance, and slowly build up as you feel stronger.

There are times that the Universe appears to us with extraordinary clarity of Divine Love. Recognize and grasp these moments and savory them deliciously. It is important that we take the time to recognize those gems moments when our hearts, minds and eyes are wide open and our hearts are ready to receive, God will always make itself known.

This Week’s Spiritual Assignment

This week I challenge you to take time and journal about ‘Divine Moments’ that have altered your life. Write about the experiences and how they changed you forever. Take your time and be still, meditate, and allow the memories to come to you.

Friday Affirmation and Body Connection – The Illuminated Life

We’ll end the week by building on the illuminated life meditation from Monday’s post and look at water as way to connect with your body. Aqua aerobics and swimming are two of the best ways to get in shape. As your body-temple is forced to move through resistance as the water it creates a 360-degree weight room. The body is 60% water, so the natural flow of the pool supports your intention. Today, explore your neighborhood, find your community pool, and go get wet. As we continue to discover this world of health and fitness, we must be willing to try new forms of exercise. As we dance the dance of transformation, our paths give us new ideas to express the light that lives within us.

Our Affirmation: Just for this moment…just for this breath, and repeat; my life is the life of God and I live the life that illuminates this planet. And so it is. Amen

Body Connection – You Are The Light…

Skip Jennings RelaxingWe started off the week with meditating and reminding ourselves that you are a gift to this planet and you have said yes to a mission that only you can do. Remember, when you exercise the body hosts our mindfulness and acts as a shelter, haven, temple, that radiates your presence.  This radiance or aura shines a brightness that everyone can see.  Have you ever run into someone after a great workout and their response been something like, “You look amazing!” or “You’re glowing!”?  It’s more than just sweat, that’s your light of God shining through and as you, activated be your physical practice.  When you get your blood moving and elevate your heart rate, there is a natural radiance of health and fitness that cannot be denied.  

Your Action Plan: Get your eternal glow pumping by participating in your physical practice or if you are just beginning see about taking the stairs instead of the elevator or doing a 15 minute walk instead of 10.
