Skip’s Weekend Affirmation –The Elevation of Love

keep-calm-use-an-affirmationAffirmations are great at cleansing to your soul and are most effective when they hold some type of truth or resonance for you. As I’m on the road this weekend  this week’s affirmation; The Elevation of Love, hits all the right spots.

Find your quiet place and just for this moment…just for this breath,

God is my safety net and I fly high. I know Spirit will catch me if I fall so I am not afraid to try. My life is free to live to its fullest and I am empowered by my greatness. I am free to take to the air and follow my bliss. And so it is. Amen.

Peace and Blessings,

The Lotus Kitchen Black Bean and Corn Salad

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups black beans (drained and cooked al dente)
  • 3 cups roasted white corn (cooked al dente)
  • 1 red onion (raw)
  • 1 red pepper (raw)
  • 1 cup cilantro
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 jalapeno, minced
  • 2 chopped avocados (firm, not overly ripe)
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 cup of lime juice
  • Arugula lettuce

Instructions:

Combine black beans, corn, red pepper, cilantro, jalapeno, and avocado. Add olive oil, vinegar, and lime juice and mix together. Place on a bed of lettuce and serve. Serves 4-6

The Practice:

Beans and corn sprout goodness. Like a long planting season, after practicing Yoga for a while we begin to see the harvest from our hard work. The sprouts from a practice can be: good eating habits, better perception of one’s self, and a better awareness of the body. These are all fruits of the labor. Part of crop harvest is the practice of gratitude. Gratitude is the highest appreciation for what is good in your life. After a strong and powerful session of yoga, endorphins are released, which can cause a feeling of euphoria or a sense of gratitude. The practice is to maintain gratitude, while preparing this salad. Recognize the harvest of the fruits in your life, and when you sit and partake, be grateful for your life.

The Easy Pose Meditation Instruction:

Sitting with your buttocks on the mat, cross your legs with your ankles under your thighs. Rest your hands on your knees, pressing both hips towards the floor. Close your eyes and breathe. Allow your thoughts to open to knowledge and learning. Set the intention to know and feel gratitude.

This Week’s Meditative Thought–Moments of Divine Love

Spirit Island on Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park-Spirit Island , Alberta, CanadaYou’ve heard the adage, to be a winner you must put your mind in a winners perspective. In the same vein, every moment of our lives is devine if we open our minds into seeing them as so.

Recognize and Grasp Divine Love

There are times that the Universe appears to us with extraordinary clarity of Divine Love. Recognize and grasp these moments and savory them deliciously. It is important that we take the time to recognize those gems moments when our hearts, minds and eyes are wide open and our hearts are ready to receive, God will always make itself known.

This Week’s Spiritual Assignment

This week I challenge you to take time and journal about ‘Divine Moments’ that have altered your life. Write about the experiences and how they changed you forever. Take your time and be still, meditate, and allow the memories to come to you.

Peace and blessings,

Skip’s Body Connection and Affirmation – The Practice of Love

This week’s Body Connection we’ll focus on Yoga as it relates to our theme, The Practice of Love.Skip's The Power Of Love in Yoga

Physical practice is a form of self-love and to feel the vibration of Joy that lives within our soul.  The word “yoga” means to yoke or to bring together two things that appear to be separate.

This week, get physical, move, dance and connect this “yoke” to the spiritual and set your intention to elevate your love and joy vibrations.

“The Practice Of Love” Affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, I am the love energy that blesses the planet.  I move from a place of love and my life is good.  And so it is.

Peace and blessings,

-Skip

This Week’s Meditative Thought – The Practice of Love

Screenshot 2015-02-02 12.04.57Love is the highest state of consciousness and it is the awareness of God in action.  Being in a state of love is releasing the human condition of : lack, limitation, disappointment, fear, and worry, which block the flow of Love.  This week we’ll aim for The practice of Love, to help free ourselves from the human condition.  Love is connecting with the light within you and with someone else.  The sorrow of the human condition would have us believe that love is not possible.  That is a lie of the ego.

One of the intentions I speak about in yoga is opening up the heart and allowing yourself to love again.  We must set the intention to practice Love.  If there is a religion that I subscribe to, it is the religion of Love and Kindness.

Remember, what you send out is what you get back.

This Week’s Action Plan:  Today, set the intention to The Practice of Love.  When you find yourself operating from a place of fear, shift your thinking right away.   Give yourself permission to love yourself.  Allow your heart chakra to be open and filled with love. Forgive yourself for the fear that consumed your thinking and begin again.

Blessings,

-Skip

Friday Body Connection and Affirmation – Joy

Skip Jennings AffirmationMeditating on Joy and setting intentions on what brings us joy has been our theme this week. When we connect with God within, we connect with the divine qualities of the Holy Spirit. Fun workouts are the best and most often filled with joy. When we choose to exercise in the enjoyable realm or happy vibrational field, we stick with it.

During a workout, be willing to experience the quality of joy as you run, walk, or jog. Let your heart be glad when you do your strength training and be in a state of joy always when you enter your yoga classes. The vibration you choose in the beginning will be the fuel and energy that lifts your practice. This is were mind overcomes matter.

This week’s affirmation:  Just for this moment…just for this breath, repeat to yourself that you are joy rising and  live a life filled with blessings.  Amen.

This Week’s Meditative Thought – Joy

joyThis entire week let’s meditate on setting the intention to do what brings us joy. When we connect with God within, we connect with the divine qualities of the Holy Spirit. Joy is the highest form of energetic vibrations. One spiritual practice is to always find the joy within our lives.  All of our master teachers encourage us to be in the joy always. No matter what you are going through, find your joy. Delight in the realization that you are an unique expression of the Universe. Rejoice and allow your light to shine.  When we understand who and what we are, it becomes easy to find our Joy.  No matter what, we are always in God; therefore we can always activate Joy.  Set the intention to remember you are joy, and it is waiting to rise up.

This week’s “Joy” action plan let’s focus all this week on doing what brings you joy.  Take time to meditate and to identify what brings you divine happiness, then go and do it!

Peace and Blessings,

-Skip
